Join us in Orpierre, a true paradise for sport climbers. Orpierre is a small, sun-drenched climbing village perched at 700m above sea level, surrounded by stunning climbing areas with routes in all grades and styles.
Where are you going
Orpierre is a beautiful area in France south of Lyon. In Orpierre, you can rock climb perfectly because of the variety of levels.
What are you going to do?
The climbing week in Orpierre is of course full of climbing. This week we are located at a beautiful climber campsite within walking distance of the rocks. During the 5 climbing days, you can try many new routes and gain experiences.
Level and expectations
This climbing week is supervised by an experienced Dutch sports climbing instructor. The program is tailored to your level and ambitions. Prior to this course, you should ideally have the course Introduction to Outdoor Pre-Climbing followed in the Ardennes, or did you gain equivalent experience independently. You'll get the most out of this week if you can climb at least 5a outside, but post-climbing (toproping) is also possible.

Sport climbing under the French sun
During this trip, you will stay at Camping Les Princes d’Orange in Orpierre — a beautiful nature campsite within walking distance of the climbing areas.

Depending on the type of bad weather, the climbing week will continue. During the occasional shower, climbing is still perfectly possible. If rain is forecast for the entire week, we may be forced to reschedule or cancel.
There are several reasons for this. We are very aware of how much CO2 emissions we generate by driving our truck to the Ardennes ourselves and having participants travel by car. We already encourage carpooling as much as possible, and we also try to offset our impact by not serving meat, as this too generates a significant amount of CO2 emissions. We climb outdoors in nature, and we want to enjoy that nature for as long as possible!
Additionally, we want to offer food that everyone can eat. Preparing two versions of the same meal is not possible given the size of our Food Truck. So we opt for a meal that everyone can enjoy!
