WHAT DOES THE FUNCTION INCLUDE?

As Chief Sports Employee, you are responsible for the organization and planning of all Mountain Network Amsterdam sports activities. You ensure a safe and hospitable environment where all visitors can enjoy their sport. You are part of the location's basic team and functionally manage flex workers. You also supervise interns where you mostly work on the floor. You also give regular courses yourself, are responsible for the Mountain Club (youth), give guts and supervise activities. You are accountable to the Business Manager.

You are responsible for the following result areas:

RESULT AREAS

Staff & Training Company

• You are responsible for the (sports) training company; you recruit and select apprenticeships, you are a practical counselor and, in that capacity, train apprenticeships to the desired level and guide them in carrying out activities.
• From the location, you are the contact person for teachers/schools of apprentice (s).
• You lead daily; coach, supervise and motivate flex workers and apprenticeships with the aim that they can do their work optimally.

Courses & Activities

• You ensure optimal planning and offering of courses and activities.
• You are responsible for the Mountain Club; provide the planning, lesson and activity program and you are the point of contact for parents.
• You provide your own courses and instructions, including beginner courses, and you supervise the Mountain Club.
• You perform bar/counter services; during quiet periods (e.g. in the summer period), the focus is on these activities.
• You support the Business Manager with the organization of events and competitions on location.

Quality & Safety

• You are responsible for the safety of the Sport task area at the location. You set the right example and you are responsible for ensuring that your employees follow the correct safety procedures.
• You are responsible for managing and maintaining climbing and activity materials in accordance with procedures (including TüV system).
• You perform general tasks in accordance with cleaning procedures.

Commercial & Relationship Management

• You translate personal and location goals into concrete actions and results in the field of Sport.
• You promote activities and events via social media, among other things.

WHAT DO WE ASK OF YOU?

We are looking for a customer-oriented and flexible colleague with experience in climbing and leadership. Planning, organizing and controlling are great for you. You like to contribute ideas about commercial promotions and new events to increase the visitors and customer satisfaction of existing customers.

At a minimum, we ask:

• MBO+/HBO work and thinking level
• Extensive experience in climbing and mountaineering (self-active indoor/outdoor climber)
• In possession of official NKBV framework qualifications, Practical Counselor, SKI-IV and BHV, or the willingness to obtain them.
• Growth opportunities to SKI-OV, SKT2 Experience with managing and planning/organizing, preferably within the sports industry
• A social, enthusiastic personality who likes to make customers happy
• Willingness to work in the evening and one day at the weekend

WHERE WILL YOU WORK?

Mountain Network Amsterdam Climbing Center has been in the “Honorary Tribune” in Amsterdam-West for over 10 years. The climbing hall has a front climbing wall with an impressive overhang where the Dutch climbing team trains regularly, a bouldering area, an outdoor climbing wall, training and fitness facilities and collaborations with Fysioholland and Topsport Amsterdam (we cook daily for over 100 top sports students who live in the “Honorary Tribune”). The center has a cozy mountaineering café with a waterfront terrace where you can enjoy a refreshing drink, one of our many (special) beers, sustainable Peeze coffee, or delicious daily meals after your climbing session

Mountain Network is a fast-growing and dynamic organization with more than 30 years of experience in climbing and mountaineering. The organization has 7 climbing and bouldering centers in the Netherlands and an outdoor mountaineering branch. At these locations, we provide activities, courses and group arrangements. Mountain Network is also active internationally as an organizer of mountaineering trips.
