WHAT DOES THE FUNCTION INCLUDE?

The Sports Climbing Trainer Competition Team works in a climbing or bouldering center and works with the permanent base team. The activities mainly consist of training the competition team, training adults and providing courses. The Sports Climbing Trainer Competition Team is managed on location by the Managing Director and is substantively supervised by the Mountain Club coordinator.

You are responsible for the following result areas:

Trainer/coach

  • Provides training to the competition team;
  • Is aware of the internal multi-year training plan and the ASM model and implements the training content and periodization based on this background knowledge and own insights;
  • Coaches youth members at (national) competitions and is the point of contact for parent/counselors. Is also aware of the IFSC competition rules and the Dutch additional provision;
  • Uses the Sportlyzer talent tracking system and includes the following data: training, absence, test results, goals, the label system, etc. ;
  • Contributes to the implementation of the joint training courses that are organized annually;
  • Ensures compliance with the competition team intake and outflow procedures and thus creates a healthy flow within the competition team.

Courses & Activities (optional)

  • You provide your own courses including Indoor Toprope and/or Indoor Pre-Climbing Courses;
  • Providing climbing and/or bouldering training to adults (Mountain Fit);

Safety and Quality

  • Is responsible for ensuring safety by working in accordance with existing safety and quality procedures prior to and during the activity;
  • Identifying, reporting and acting on possible dangerous situations and/or unwanted situations;
  • Provides communication, guidance and control with regard to compliance with quality and safety procedures and sets the right example.

Customer focus

  • Ensures optimal customer satisfaction by continuously connecting with the customer, his/her experience and expectations and by anticipating this;
  • Transfers their own enthusiasm for climbing to customers through a positive and accessible attitude;
  • Together with other trainers, creates a safe sports climate for all MC members and customers at the location

WHAT DO WE ASK OF YOU?

We are looking for a customer-oriented and flexible colleague with experience in climbing and training. Planning, organizing and monitoring are great for you. You like to contribute ideas about training content at the location and have your own vision for talent development from latitudinal sports to top sports level.

At a minimum, we ask:

  • You love transferring your passion for climbing to children and adults;
  • Your climbing level is at least 7a (or you have had this in the past);
  • Affinity with climbing and mountaineering (self-active indoor/outdoor climber);
  • A keen eye on safety;
  • You can work independently and bear responsibility;
  • In possession of a VOG or is willing to apply for one;
  • Preferably in possession of the official NKBV framework qualifications SKI3-IV & SKT3 or the willingness to achieve them in the short term;
  • Willingness to work in the evenings/weekends;
  • Ambition to work at Mountain Network for at least 3 years so that we can invest in appropriate courses and, together with you, make a significant development in the field of our current training offerings.

WHERE WILL YOU WORK?

Klimcentrum Noardwand is the newest and most modern climbing center in the Netherlands, located in Leeuwarden. Noardwand is one of the few climbing centers in the Netherlands to offer all three Olympic disciplines under one roof: lead, speed and boulder. There is also an outer wall and the first and only Clip 'n Climb in Friesland. In the mountaineering café, you can enjoy a snack and a drink by the cozy fireplace. The bouldering hall of over 750m², together with a high-end training room, has been a nice addition to this location since May 2022. A close-knit, friendly team works at the location with a great passion for climbing.
