With this foundational course, you’ll learn the core skills of sport climbing: belaying, knot-tying, and essential climbing techniques. Once completed, you’ll be certified to climb independently in any climbing gym across the Netherlands.
During this course, you will learn the basic skills you need to climb independently. It is usually possible to get your climbing skills certificate within at least 4 lessons (within 3 months). After you have passed your exam, you will receive an official NKBV climbing skills certificate (KVB-IT) and you can climb independently in any climbing gym in the Netherlands!
You set your own pace at which you get to work. Maybe you have an irregular work schedule, and you can do it one week and not the next. No problem, you can even take part in the course twice a week.

Frequently asked questions
If you want to try climbing, you can book an introductory lesson first! If you like it, you can then get your Indoor Toprope Climbing Skill Certificate (KVB-IT) from us. This allows you to climb independently in any climbing gym in the Netherlands. After that, you can get your indoor pre-climb ticket (KVB-IV).
Each lesson in the course lasts 2 hours. To complete the program, you must attend at least 4 lessons and pass a final exam. These 4 sessions must be completed within a 3-month period. Your instructor will determine when you are fully prepared to take the practical exam.
You'll work in a group with fellow participants to learn the basics of climbing — think belaying, tying knots and, of course, climbing technique. Along the way you might just meet a new climbing partner too, so you're picking up skills and swapping experiences at the same time.
