NCC Grand Opening moved to 14 November – Flashtest on 5 September
Unfortunately, we have to postpone the Grand Opening of the National Climbing Center once again. The Grand Opening will not take place on Saturday 5 September, but on Saturday 14 November 2026.
We understand this is disappointing, especially for everyone who was already looking forward to 5 September.
Why are we postponing the Grand Opening?
The construction and further fit-out of the NCC are not yet as far along as we had hoped. We are not yet able to open the outdoor walls because we are still awaiting the final inspection. The cushioning floors in both climbing halls have not been installed yet either.
In addition, work will continue over the coming period on various other facilities, including the strength & conditioning facilities, music in the halls and the guest house.
We want to make the Grand Opening a day that does justice to the ambitions of the NCC. That is why we have chosen a new, definitive date.
Fortunately, there is good news too: this week the autobelays are being installed. These can be put into use in the coming weeks; we'll let you know as soon as possible once we have a date.
Grand Opening and Flashtest finale on 14 November
On Saturday 14 November we're combining the Grand Opening with a special finale of the Flashtest competition. In September, October and November, Flashtest competitions take place at all Climbing Network locations. The best climbers qualify for the national finale at the NCC.
For this special edition we're also inviting national and international athletes. In addition, we're working on an extensive programme including:
- A spectacular Flashtest finale
- Clinics and demonstrations
- Speakers from the climbing world
- Music, food and drinks
- A closing party
It promises to be a special day where the community, elite sport and the National Climbing Center come together. More information about the programme will follow.
Because many climbers were already looking forward to 5 September, we're not letting this day pass by unmarked. On Saturday 5 September we're hosting a regular Flashtest edition at the NCC.
Expect loads of brand-new routes and boulders, DJs, food trucks and, above all, a great day together with the climbing community. Every participant also receives an exclusive Flashtest T-shirt.
The regular Flashtest rates apply for participation:
- Climbing Network members: €12.50
- Non-members: €25.00
