Building the future of climbing together: Our Crowdfunding starts now!

After more than 40 years of pioneering under its own steam, Climbing Network is taking the ultimate next step. With the official launch of a nationwide crowdfunding campaign via the CrowdAboutNow platform, the organisation invites its community and committed investors to help build the future. The recently opened National Climbing Center (NCC) in Nieuwegein serves as the blueprint for new locations and upgrades throughout the Netherlands.

From niche sport to Olympic level

For forty years, Climbing Network has built on passion, entrepreneurship and a strong connection to the climbing world. Much has changed over those four decades: climbing and bouldering transformed from an alternative outdoor sport into one of the fastest-growing sports in the Netherlands, now crowned with full Olympic status.

"We have seen the sport emerge and mature in the Netherlands," says the management team, made up of Johan Cavé, Frederick Houtenbos and Leopold Roessingh. "Now we stand on the eve of a new era. We want to shape climbing for the next forty years. We're not doing that alone — we'd much rather do it together with the people we do it for: our community and investors who believe in our vision."

The NCC as a blueprint for the Netherlands

The absolute linchpin of these growth plans is the National Climbing Center (NCC) in Nieuwegein. This centre is an absolute game changer for climbing in the Netherlands. It is a unique place where recreational sport, young talent and elite training come together under one roof. What's more, it is the first location where all Olympic disciplines — lead, speed and bouldering — are fully facilitated.

The NCC is more than just a state-of-the-art gym, however; it is the blueprint for the future. With the proceeds of the crowdfunding, Climbing Network aims to roll out this successful formula to new locations across the Netherlands at an accelerated pace. In addition, it will invest in the further optimisation of the NCC and in large-scale upgrades (such as renewed routes, holds and facilities) for all existing gyms within the network.

That the plans enjoy broad support is clear from the closed pre-launch phase of the campaign. Within a very short time, an enthusiastic group of more than 40 early investors had already pledged 33% of the total target of €400,000. The campaign is now officially open to the general public.

How does it work?

Investing in Climbing Network's plans is a serious investment with an attractive return. The crowdfunding is set up in the form of a loan. The key terms at a glance:

• Return: 4.5% interest per year
• Term: Full repayment within 5 years
• Exclusive rewards: As an investor you become part of the club and receive unique privileges, such as invitations to exclusive events, clinics and outdoor courses.
• Entry amount: You can take part in the campaign from as little as €500.
