The National Climbing Center (NCC) is opening its doors in Nieuwegein: the largest climbing facility in the Benelux and the official training centre for the Dutch National Team. Whether you are scaling a wall for the first time or preparing for an international championship, this is the place for every climber. Centrally located and easy to reach, the centre was built with light, space, and sustainability as its foundation.

On Saturday, 3 January 2026, we opened our first facilities. This section features a 14-metre-high climbing hall with 28 top-rope lines and 56 routes (ranging from 3 to 7B), all set with fresh holds and volumes. Watch the video here!

Limited Facilities

Due to our phased opening, available facilities remain limited:

• A temporary unit is available offering coffee, tea, soft drinks, and small snacks.
• Restrooms are available; however, there are no changing rooms or showers at this stage.
• Bags may be stored within the climbing hall.
• Standard heating is not yet fully operational, though a space heater is in use to provide some warmth. We recommend bringing an extra sweater or jacket.

Access & Safety

Please park at the former climbing gym. From there, follow the signage to the NCC, located directly behind the current site (approximately a three-minute walk).

Please report to the site office (indicated by signs).
⚠️ Access to the construction site is strictly prohibited, including for those wishing to take a look.

Opening hours (Initial Phase)

Monday to Friday: 15:30 – 23:00
Saturday and Sunday: 09:00 – 19:00

Hours will be extended as soon as construction allows. Once fully operational, morning sessions will also be introduced.

Schedule for the coming months

While the first routes have been climbed since January, work continues on the rest of the NCC, including the auto-belay area, lead hall, training facilities, bouldering halls, outdoor climbing walls, café, and shop.

Provisional timeline:

• Until the first of May: Learning area climbing walls.
• From the first of May: All facilities operational, excluding the lead hall and outdoor walls.
• From the 15th of June: All facilities operational, excluding the outdoor walls.
• From the 27th of June: All facilities operational including the outdoor walls

Dutch National Lead Championships (NK Lead)
On Saturday, 30 May, the best climbers in the Netherlands will compete for gold on the brand-new NCC walls. This promises to be a spectacular event you won't want to miss. Keep an eye on the NKBV website; ticket sales will launch soon.

NCC Grand Opening Weekend
On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June, we celebrate the official opening of the National Climbing Center. The weekend will feature clinics, workshops, demonstrations, and presentations. Athletes from La Sportiva and Petzl will also be in attendance. Further programme details will be shared shortly.
